Acknowledgements for Participation to RISC-V Days Tokyo 2021 Autumn

On November 19, RISC-V Days Tokyo 2021 Autumn was held at the same time with ET& IoT 2021. This was the first conference hosted by the RISC-V Association, which was established in April 2021. This is the eighth conference since the first one held at the end of 2017, and it will be held at the same time as ET&IoT in 2020.

The event will be held at the same time as ET&IoT as well as in 2020, and will be supported by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the Japan Embedded Systems Technology Association (JASA). I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the RISC-V Working Group of JASA (Japan Embedded Systems Technology Association), the Khronos Group (USA), the Chisel Study Group (Chisel Study Group), and NANOOPTMedia STUDIO. In addition, we would like to express our gratitude to RISC-V International, an international organization, for their great support.

I would like to thank RISC-V International, an international organization, for spreading the news and Calista Redmond’s presentation. As measures are being taken for the semiconductor supply chain, I believe it is necessary to introduce tangible innovations in design methods, and I am working to promote a modern hardware description language to complement Verilog and VHDL, which were created in the 1980s. This time, in cooperation with the Embedded Systems Technology Association of Japan and the RISC-V Association, we distributed free of charge an introductory book to the next-generation hardware description language, “Digital Circuit Design Starting with Chisel.

In the spring of 2022, RISC-V Days Tokyo 2022 Spring (RISC-V Days Tokyo 2022 Spring) is scheduled to be held. The method of holding the event has not yet been decided, but we will let you know when and where it will be held.

We are planning to collaborate with Chips Alliance, Red Hat, and Matt Ben, who is doing educational courses on OpenROAD and OpenLane, to create the program. Also, by the time of Tokyo 2022 Spring, Prof. Amano’s team at Keio University will be translating Sarah L. Harris and David Harris’ Digital Design and Computer Architecture, RISC-V Edition into Japanese. I am also looking forward to reading this book. In the area of design automation, the U.S. Department of Defense, with the cooperation of Synopsys, Cadence, and others, is working on a project called OpenROAD (https://theopenroadproject.org/darpa-is-reimagining-u-s-electronics). We are also planning to cover more on technologies related to OpenROAD. Furthermore discussions to have more exposure to Khronos Group’s technology in Spring is also ongoing. The above are still discussions and it is always hard to predict future but something which we would like to see.

Most recently, RISC-V Days Vietnam 2021 is scheduled to be held on December 11, 2021.
